January 2021 Sneak Peek
Welcome back book nerds! We have finally left the smoldering wreckage of 2020 behind us, and a brave new 2021 is beckoning ahead. Only time will tell if this year is just an extension of the dumpster fire that was the last, but here’s to hoping! In the mean time, Big Book Energy is staging our Season 3 comeback. Our first episode will drop next Monday, January 11th and will kick off our Mythology & Folklore inspired theme. We are also introducing a new theme for our bonus episodes: Phone a Friend. We’re going to have guests! Guests! If you are interested in being on one of our Phone a Friend episodes, check out our Patreon. Now keep on scrolling to see what papery goodness we are bringing to the table this month in our new TBR.
Jennifer’s first pick for Season 3 is the first book of Katherine Arden’s Winternight trilogy: The Bear and the Nightingale. Not only is this book inspired heavily by Slavic and Russian folklore, but it also happens to be one of Jennifer’s favorite books.
Paige’s first pick for Season 3 is also a Slavic folklore inspired tale. You could almost say there is a theme within the theme? The Witcher is one of the most beloved fantasy series of all time, whether you like books or video games, and BBE is excited to talk The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapowski.
Finally, for our very first Phone a Friend bonus episode, Brooke has chosen Leigh Bardugo’s Ninth House.
And that is our January Sneak Peek. What reads do you have on your new TBR? Anything in particular you are excited about? Comment below!
